In 2008, a tattoo shop owner encouraged me to start an apprenticeship and I started the next day. I began tattooing professionally in December 2009.
I create original tattoo designs and practice top quality tattoo craftsmanship.

My passion for art has grown with me since childhood. I'm self-taught in my fine art work (oil and acrylic paints, generally) with research, discipline and practice as my guides. My college courses in digital programs and graphic design introduced methods and techniques that have helped me take a fresh approach to my whole creative process. My apprenticeship began in 2012 and I've been tattooing ever since. I love creating fresh designs that are unique and personalized. I'm committed to improving my techniques so that I can continue to provide art that my clients will be extremely happy with and proud of for years to come.
From a young age, Ian Maggard was certain he wanted to be a tattoo artist. As a boy he would draw on his friend's skin using markers. This would often get him into some trouble, but nevertheless he continued to do it. As a teenager in high school, he was already actively pursuing an apprenticeship. Once Ian had his mind set on a studio with artists he truly admired, there was no stopping him. He spent the better part of two years sitting in the lobby of this studio drawing and asking the artists questions. After all of his persistence, he finally received his apprenticeship. When Ian first started his tattoo career, he was interested in black and grey realism. As time went on and he learned how to draw in many other tattoo styles, he became very interested in the colorful possibilities of neo-traditional. Since then his art style has flourished. Of course you're never really finished learning even after your apprenticeship is over. Ian continuously seeks out learning new techniques and styles, to help further his own artistic style. His goal is, and always will be, to push the limit and grow his abilities throughout his entire career. It's all about the art.
